Applicants must have prior experience working within the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) system and be familiar with DDA regulations and nursing delegation requirements.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate DDA Nurse to provide delegation services for residents as an independent contractor. The Delegating Nurse will oversee and train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in medication administration, health monitoring, and delegated nursing tasks, ensuring high-quality care and regulatory compliance.

Key Nursing Delegation Services

  • Conduct initial and ongoing nursing assessments in accordance with COMAR 10.27.11.

  • Provide training on health-related topics and delegate nursing tasks to Certified Medication Technicians and/or Certified Nursing Assistants.

  • Offer on-call services as mutually agreed upon.

  • Complete annual reviews and updates, or as needed.

  • Review and update nursing care plans, lab results, and medical appointment notes.

  • Perform monthly MAR and medication cycle reviews.

  • Conduct medication observations and post-hospitalization evaluations.

  • Communicate with the individuals healthcare team as necessary.
Delegating Nurse Responsibilities

  • Observe each resident on-site at least every 4590 days, as appropriate.

  • Remain available on-call as required by COMAR 10.27.11.

  • Provide clinical oversight and direction for resident care in the DDA residential setting.

  • Issue nursing or clinical orders based on resident needs.

  • Delegate nursing tasks appropriately and provide consultation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Maryland.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the DDA field.

  • DDA Nursing certification preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in delegation for individuals with developmental disabilities.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification .
