Director of Sales – Hands-On Retail- Expansion

Position Overview

Stu’s Home Improvement Outlet is hiring a hands-on Director of Sales to lead every aspect of retail sales execution —from building sales processes to actively selling on the floor and driving multi-store expansion .

This is a working leadership role . You will coach, close deals, train, fix broken processes, and build a repeatable sales engine that scales across locations. If you are not comfortable being on the floor daily, this role is not a fit.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

Candidates must have :

  • 3+ years of hands-on retail sales management experience
  • Proven success actively selling while leading teams
  • Experience in open-box, liquidation, scratch-and-dent, outlet, or closeout retail strongly preferred
  • Experience selling big-ticket items (furniture, appliances, flooring, home goods)
  • Track record of building SOPs, sales systems, and training programs
  • History of hitting revenue goals through direct involvement , not just oversight

  • Core Responsibilities1. Sales Execution & LeadershipActively sell and close high-ticket items
  • Lead daily sales operations across the store
  • Coach associates in real time
  • Set and drive daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets
  • 2. SOP Creation & EnforcementBuild, document, and implement:
  • Customer greeting standards
  • Furniture and appliance sales flows
  • Objection handling scripts
  • Pricing and margin protection rules
  • Ensure every salesperson follows the same system
  • 3. Team Development & AccountabilityTrain, coach, and develop sales staff
  • Hold team members accountable to KPIs
  • Address underperformance quickly and clearly
  • Build a performance-driven culture
  • 4. Expansion & New Sales StrategiesDesign sales systems that scale to:
  • Multiple stores
  • Higher inventory volumes
  • Test and implement new sales drivers
  • Prepare playbooks for new store launches
  • 5. Lead Management & ConversionOversee and actively work:
  • Walk-in traffic
  • Phone inquiries
  • Online and Marketplace leads
  • Ensure follow-up discipline
  • Maximize conversion and average ticket
