Job Description

Operates the freight elevator to transport passengers and deliveries between floors. Pushes buttons to control the movement of the cab based on signals or instructions from passengers or others. The position also requires greeting users, assisting as needed, and communicating information to riders. In addition, the role requires attention to security, such as verifying that contractors access the correct units and ensuring they follow building regulations and safety procedures while on property. Work is performed standing throughout the shift.

  • Coordinate all moving in/out, contractors, vendors, and deliveries.
  • Open and close the door at each floor where users want to get into/out of the elevator.
  • Ensure that all passengers get inside/out of the elevator with safety. He/she may need to press the stop/door-open button in case the elevator door starts closing suddenly.
  • Pass information to the users regarding office, lobby, gym, pool, parking lot, or valet location and help them reach the correct floor.
  • Transfer small goods, mail, and documents from floor to floor.
  • Maintain the general appearance of the facility to include elevators and carry out minor maintenance.
  • Provide a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, knowledgeable interaction and behaviors.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure it's in good working order, participate in the overall maintenance of the facility and equipment - notify management of any necessary repairs or possible equipment concerns. Elevator operator must ring the security alarm in case of any mishap.
  • Be an involved/engaged member of a team and be willing to act and think independently. Assist other team members while loading freight into the elevator.
Work Environment

The working environment will primarily be indoor and within the area of the elevators. The job site is located at a condominium building, where people reside. It may be a busy location where visitor, guests, vendors, owners, etc all are located.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Days and hours of work will be determine by the location based on their business needs. This schedule may change to accommodate the business needs of the location.

Required Education and Experience

Prior experience in a related position.
  • Must have good communication skills to work with the unit owners, guests, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Should have some mechanical ability to be able to do minor repairs and preform basic scheduled maintenance
  • Must have sound judgment and quick decision-making capability during any accident, malfunction, or fire incidence and ensure the safety of all riders.
  • Must have the ability to read and write in English
  • Must be comfortable in managing the access to the elevator and ensuring the riders are cleared and/or authorized to ride.
  • Ability to work nights, weekend, and/or holidays if the schedules requires.
  • Must be able to operate machinery.
