**Role: Quality Assurance Tester**
**Contract:** Full-time Remote Contractor _(40 hours weekly / 160 hours monthly)_
**Business Hours:** Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM EST
**Rate:** $2,000 - $3,000 USD monthly _(Salary is negotiable based on experience and location) _

**What You'll Do**
As a Quality Assurance Tester, you'll play a crucial role in building and refining the manual testing processes to establish a strong foundation for quality assurance. You’ll focus on executing test plans, identifying and documenting defects, and collaborating with development teams to ensure timely resolution of issues. While this role emphasizes manual testing, it also offers opportunities to grow into test automation as the team and product evolve. Your passion for delivering high-quality software and deep understanding of software testing methodologies will be key to success.
**Your responsibilities will include:**
* Lead the creation, execution, and maintenance of comprehensive manual test strategies based on documented requirements and specifications.
* Identify, document, and track software defects using a bug-tracking system.
* Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing across backend, frontend, and database layers.
* Conduct manual testing to ensure the functionality, security, and performance of RESTful services and integrations.
* Participate in test planning and review sessions to align test coverage with system requirements.
* Collaborate closely with developers and architects to ensure testing aligns with architectural designs and system requirements.
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and bug reports.
* Document and drive the resolution of complex bugs and performance bottlenecks.
* Ensure applications meet compliance and security standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2) through rigorous testing.
* Monitor, analyze, and improve quality metrics and KPIs to continuously enhance testing processes.
* Lead QA initiatives within cross-functional teams, promoting best practices and a testing culture.
**MUST HAVES:**
* Over 5 years of professional QA testing experience.
* At least one year of experience in a global remote or virtual environment for a company in North America, Europe, Australia or the UAE.
* Expertise in manual and automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman).
* Strong proficiency in API testing and validation.
* Experienced in testing server-side applications built with Node.js and databases like MongoDB and Postgres.
* Knowledge of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) for testing cloud-based applications.
* Familiar with security and compliance testing methodologies, including HIPAA and SOC2 requirements.
* Proficient with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner).
* Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
**NICE-TO-HAVES:**
* Experience in the healthcare or startup industries is a plus.
* Expertise in testing applications in microservices or serverless architectures.
* Advanced programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript for test automation.
* Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
* Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations and deliver results under tight deadlines.
* Prior experience working in fast-paced startups or agile development environments.
