Craft and Technical Solutions is an established Marine and Industrial Staffing Company with offices all over the country. We partner with businesses as well as jobseekers to place individuals into positions efficiently. We are currently in need of a Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team in Newport News, VA.

**Per diem may be available for qualified candidates. **

Job Description :

• Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using shears, brakes, punches, and rollers to create components and structures as per blueprints and job specifications.
• Assemble fabricated sheet metal components into finished products, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality according to assembly drawings and instructions.
• Install and repair foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and other sheet metal fabrication work.
• Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for defects, dimensional accuracy, and conformance to quality standards, adjusting as necessary to meet specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on fabrication equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe work practices.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• 3 years of experience performing shipboard, aircraft, industrial, or commercial installations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to read blueprints, technical manuals, and other engineering drawings.
• Capacity to lift and manipulate heavy sheet metal materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
• Able to comprehend fractional and decimal dimensions with the use of a ruler.
• Pass a hair follicle test and background check.
