This West Houston public accounting firm is adding a Tax Manager to its growing team. This role is ideal for a public accounting professional who enjoys leading, developing, and overseeing staff while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex tax and accounting work. You’ll work closely with firm ownership in a collaborative, flexible environment that genuinely values work-life balance.

Position Highlights:

• Excellent work-life balance — overtime rarely exceeds 50 hours per week, and all applicable chargeable time is paid at your regular rate

Qualifications:

• CPA strongly preferred; CPA-eligible candidates or Enrolled Agents will also be considered
• Minimum of 7+ years of public accounting experience
• Strong technical expertise in tax and accounting with prior supervisory experience

Responsibilities:

• Review and oversee preparation of corporate, partnership, individual, trust, and non-profit tax returns using UltraTax
• Lead, mentor, and review the work of a team of five Staff Accountants
• Manage workflow, deadlines, and staff development
• Review write-up work prepared in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
• Maintain familiarity with payroll transactions, forms, and reconciliations (dedicated payroll staff in place)
• Serve as a point of contact for client questions and ongoing engagement
