Job Summary

The Travel Med/Surg RN provides high‑quality nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and postoperative needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a fast‑paced acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to Med/Surg patients across varying acuity levels
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to facility protocols
  • Monitor vital signs, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to coordinate patient care
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
  • Document all care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
  • Maintain infection control standards and adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support unit workflow, including admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Demonstrate adaptability and professionalism in a travel assignment setting
Requirements
  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • Minimum of 1–2 years recent Med/Surg experience
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience with electronic charting systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar) preferred
  • Travel nursing experience beneficial but not required
